Welcome to Providence United Methodist Church in Forest City!

Peace DoveA Word From Our Church

Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love. Welcome to our website!  Thank you for visiting  us at Providence United Methodist Church.

As you surf our web pages, you will learn that we are a church that is over 220 years old founded in the early 1790's. Providence has had 6 different sanctuaries and even a one room school house on the property. (Learn more about our heritage on the Church History page.) You will also find that we are a church moving forward in the name of Jesus Christ. In the past eight years the church has undertaken three major projects: a new parsonage (the first one ever), a 6,300 square foot Family Life Center and a complete renovation of the Church, Education Building and grounds (dedication service March 30, 2008).

Our congregation encourages everyone to dress in whatever manner is comfortable to them and to worship in the style in which they are accustomed (lifting hands in praise or sitting reverently in silence). Picture of the Church

Anyone who loves the Lord is welcome no matter from what background they come. Feel free to come and visit us anytime. And if you live in the Forest City area and are looking for a good church home, why not come and see for yourself if Providence is the place for you. We believe you will find our church to be a congregation in which you are always welcome!

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God who has the answer, not only for the problems in our world, but to the personal problems and challenges we face! There is hope for all who turn their hearts and minds in the direction of the cross. There is purpose for living when we encounter God’s love, build our lives on the principles given to us by the Jesus Christ and allow His Word to transform us.

Furthermore we do believe that in Jesus Christ there is forgiveness, peace, purpose, and power for living in the midst of the many questions we face! We invite you to come and journey with us as we worship God, follow Jesus, serve others, and transform the world around us. Make plans to visit Providence United Methodist Church this Sunday. You will be glad you did!

Grace & Peace

PUMC Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide a place of refuge and a haven of hope for people who are hurting and to create an environment of loving, caring Christians growing in the grace, knowledge and love of our Savior, who will impact the community for the kingdom of God.

PUMC Vision Statement

Our church members will reach beyond their comfort zone to share Christ in a loving, compassionate way with every person in our local community. We will pray and invoke the power of the Holy Spirit in order to do so and will be trained and equipped to take on this challenge.

We will always strive to reach out to those in need in visible and tangible ways - to feed the hungry, nurture the young, mentor the forsaken and lonely, clothe the naked, visit the sick and imprisioned and minister to the elderly and shut-ins.

Our church will be a church where everyone will feel welcomed, loved and received regardless of race, creed or color. From the moment visitors walk in the door, they will be greeted by a warm atmosphere, uplifting music and friendly and courteous greeters. When they leave the service, they will be inspired and challenged to be an integral and vital part of our ministry.

Each member will model Christ in everything we do and say. In every single act we will seek to please God. Furthermore, we will use our God-given talents to be a blessing to others and will have faith together that all things are possible to those who believe.

Finally the body of Christ at Providence will seek to live each day with passion, love and faith so that we may become closer to the Lord and make a difference in people's lives. We will do this by spending time daily in the Word, seeking out opportunities to help others, and by striving to live as Jesus Christ did.

PUMC Core Values

  • Love God
  • Love each other
  • Learn and live by faith
  • Lead others to Christ
  • Let God have His way
